Principals
Richard Christiani,
Mr. Christiani has a lifelong involvement with architecture and the building industry. Before obtaining his architectural degree from the University of California, Berkeley, he worked as a carpenter, general contractor and independent developer in the Bay Area. Upon completion of his Master of Architecture degree, he worked for several bay area firms as a designer and project architect working on a variety of projects including housing, community buildings, health care facilities, churches, and restaurants, receiving several design awards along the way. He joined Fisher Friedman Associates as, a senior project architect in 1984, and was responsible for several high-density mixed-use, projects in Texas and California. In 1989, Mr. Christiani established his own firm and designed many fine custom homes and residential remodels. Mr. Christiani formed the partnership Christiani Johnson Architects with David Johnson in 1994.
David Johnson,
Between a bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree from Princeton University in 1969 and a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University in 1975, Mr. Johnson completed 2 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. Upon completion of his studies he was employed by two New York architecture firms as a designer, working on large scale development projects in Jordan, Korea, Pittsburgh and New York City. In 1980, Mr. Johnson relocated to San Francisco to join Fisher Friedman Associates in the field of residential planning and design. He served as a Senior Associate and principal designer on numerous projects in the western United States, winning multiple awards for his design work. Mr. Johnson has also been actively involved in planning and urban design developments in the Bay Area. In 1994, he formed the partnership Christiani Johnson Architects with Richard Christiani.
Sherry Scott,
Ms. Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas followed by a Master of Architecture at Arizona State University while working as a job captain on several custom home projects in Scottsdale, Arizona. She moved to San Francisco in 1996 and worked for three years in variety of roles including project manager on custom homes, livework lofts, a winery, and health and medical projects. Ms. Scott joined Christiani Johnson Architects in 1999 and has worked as project manager and project architect on numerous multi-family and mixed-use projects. She became a licensed architect and associate in the firm in 2002. She became a Principal in 2006.
Larry Seaman,
Mr. Seaman graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 1976 and began a diverse architectural career working on an array of project types including postal facilities, large scale residential projects, commercial centers, hospitals and a city hall. Mr. Seaman was the designer and project architect for the $12 million aircraft hanger for the Topgun naval weapons school in Fallon, Nevada, and performed construction administration for the 863 unit Bayside Village apartment complex in San Francisco. As the project architect for the Notre Dame des Victoires church and rectory project in San Francisco, Mr. Seaman directed the seismic retrofit and remodel of an existing California landmark church. While at URS Corporation, Mr. Seaman served as Sr. Project Manager for numerous design-build remodels, and new building construction projects of US Postal facilities throughout the Northern California region. Joining Christiani Johnson Architects in 2003, Mr. Seaman served as the project architect on the adaptive reuse of the historic Cox Cadillac building in Oakland CA, incorporating the landmark building into a new mixed-use project consisting of a specialty market with market rate condominiums Most recently his duties at CJA include his role as project architect far the University Village at Albany CA, married student housing for UC Berkeley consisting of 581 new residential units in 29 buildings on a 20 acre site. Mr. Seaman was made associate in 2003 and Principal in 2006.
